It really doesn't matter what the work is. What matters is you keep it tethered in. Each engagement is an opening for your transformation. Material skills are conscious skills. Do not separate the worlds. It's the classic "what matters is the journey, not the destination" in more practical terms. Your outer works are your inner journey. Outcomes are excellent when your process is excellent. You are excellent when you and the work are one. [#CasualWatcher](/q/CasualWatcher) [#WorkOnYourself](/q/WorkOnYourself) [#ProcessIsPrimary](/q/ProcessIsPrimary) [#JourneyNotDestination](/q/JourneyNotDestination) [#InnerWork](/q/InnerWork) [#WorkForItsOwnSake](/q/WorkForItsOwnSake) **Wherever you turn your gaze**, you find people at work. Some of them informal works. Some of them handling their daily chores. Some busy with their hobbies. But engaged in works all the same. Some of it to sustain our lives. Some of it to fulfill our potentials. All the same, work we must. Unless you are one of those lazy bums, half-baked hermits, fleeing to the solitude of a monastery. Even there, you are working hard to escape from your life. The real question then isn't, what is the nature of your work. The real question is, why do you work and how do you work. Typically, we are very goal-oriented. The "why" of our works is in the result, the outcome, what we harvest from our works. Where the process of working itself is something that must happen in order to get that outcome, achieve that goal. The catch there is that when the "why" of the work is in the work itself... Doing it, you must engage in works in tune with your nature. In that, the outcome is better than in simple pursuit of the results. Then into the how. How do we work? We work in a manner where every aspect of the works is connected with our awareness and evolution. The specific field of works you've landed in is the outcome of your inner casting, in a manner speaking. It is a reflection of your life's necessities, and it is a reflection of your conscious evolution. Your tools out there are the same as your tools in here. Embrace them together. Every facet of your outer works is an opportunity for your inner works. If only you connect the two together. In diverse professional fields, yes, but also in the chores of our daily lives. We sweep the floor. Scrubbing clean every last little corner. We clean the windows. Clear vision to the world out there. We take out garbage. Incinerated to white ash. These are all symbolic enactments of our inner processes. Then, instead of engaging in disconnected rituals, playing with symbols โ€” that you may or may not understand โ€” for your conscious evolution, and in that only adding more to the burdens of your life... Why not attend to the transformative significance of all that has already been laid out before you? Your daily life, as it happens, use that as your field of transformation. It's not hypothetical. Each and every little thing you do in your life is fundamentally connected to the essential underlying dynamics of the universe and of consciousness itself. You simply need to find those tethers. They have always been there. Nothing has ever been disconnected, except in the overlay of your mind, where you see all things as separate. You pursue your goals out there and you ignore the heart of what's present right in front of your nose. Casually, chipping away at our daily chores, we abide on the planes of metacognition. Witnessing the essence of all existence. And then, by all means, do not advertise your perception of that reality. "This chainsaw for me symbolizes such and such, how conscious I am." Please. Just do your thing. Be happy with the works you engage in. You do not do any of that for any outcome. None of these works happen as a matter of the transformation of your self-image in the eyes of others. You are simply working on yourself. That's all.
