Yes I have — to discover and extract the essence. Uplifting the universal principles. Harnessing dynamics of inner evolution that stand independent of conceptual models. Not to indulge in fascinating narratives, not to reconcile doctrinal constructs. Not to force life and conscience into frames of interpretation. Instead, looking through the windows, distilling and liberating the living wisdom. That's all. Have I spent a saturated lifetime exploring, practicing and immersing into various traditions? Yes, I have. And have I, in the process, accumulated a significant field of knowledge and insight into each? Yes, I have. But none of that to become a prime student, a model citizen, in a given tradition. All of that to uncover the radiant essence seeping through the veils of diverse traditions. I care about the living essence, embedded in and expressed through countless traditions. Because I care about reality itself, as it is, in all of its beauty and fullness. I have no interest at all in indulging in the most fascinating of mind-borne hallucinations disconnected from reality. Nor do I wish to engage in debates or burrow into internal contradictions, seeking reconciliations in all these mind-borne disconnected speculations. If you wish to be true to your tradition's form and sculpt yourself into the standard template, then better you find for yourself a crafty traditionalist to help you out. All that I care of is the windows a given tradition provides into this living reality of ours. If you wish to explore those windows together, then by all means. Then, adjusting your angles, and actually looking through the window, instead of staring at the window frames... Whatever that you may see. Whatever the living insight. Whatever that you directly witness. The truth in the here and now. It may or may not fit the forms of your tradition. Where traditions may be dear to you, and you wish to hold on to the frames, then your homework is in reconciling reality with interpretations. We are not here to abolish traditions. We are here to fulfill, to consummate the essence of traditions. And often times, it means that the inherited misconceptions in a tradition must yield. They must be shed. They veil the truth. Do not expect the establishment, the standard authorities, to be very happy with this process. Your lineage holders, your guardians of faith — yes they jealously hold the line and they guard their treasures — my precious. For they have, with whatever knowledge and wisdom, inherited the power bases, the hierarchies, and these establishments too must be held. In the name of preserving this inheritance of insight, but also in preserving our position. Upholding the trade, making sure the pecking order stays intact. My problem here is that I really, really do not care for all of that posturing. I do not bow to authorities that hold on to illusions. Your hollow messiahs, your emperors made of mist, whatever that they think, whatever that they say, their authority does not override reality. Then whatever Hindu, Buddhist, Christian, Islam, Taoist or Zoroastrian for good measure, frameworks that you have, that you find helpful... Then by all means, let's muse on it all together, see what we can uncover. But please, don't expect me to pamper inherited illusions, to reconcile conceptual frames that were broken from the get-go. Whatever threads that are still tethered to actuality — weave all of those together. Whatever stiff and dry branches, snapped off from the tree of life — let those fall. Read and study the Book of Life, the great and definitive commentary on existence, written long before any of your scriptures gained their forms. Do not interpret reality in light of teachings. Interpret teachings in light of reality. Reality unveiled from opinions, distortions, wants and needs. Simply as it is. It's very clear. And the light and clarity of raw and naked truth will burn to ashes a million doctrines crafted in subjective minds. Raw and naked, pristine reality. There's your inner garden of Eden before the fruit of polarized knowledge becomes complicated and jams your brains. Jam to the tune and tempo of free-flowing reality. Unshackled from frameworks of interpretation that turn "what is" into "what is not". Look through the window. Don't lick the frame. Walk through the door. Don't take it off its hinges and haul it around. Release the burdens of what you think should be. Embrace the freedom of what is.
