Collabs ⁘ The Same Page
→ Collaboration Baselines and Orientation
If you've landed here — then I or someone in the know linked you up. Greetings. We have parallel interests and ongoing operations then. Fantastic. So. Collaboration starts with quality communication. We establish the shared baselines — aka. The Same Page — for our mutual orientation. Orientation to coordination. We tune up a basic sense of sync — we come to share a rhyme and reason for productive and mutually fulfilling collaboration.
Then — here's the basics drop from my side. Your mileage may vary. Do make your preferences known. If all of this seems like a mouthful. Then please digest patiently. It's all there for a reason. I'm a certified multispectral wizard type — I do not muck around and play goofball for giggles. Interaction is precise. Processes are streamlined. Systems are optimized. These are simple scaffolds to reduce friction and facilitate the smooth course of our attention and efforts. Thank you for your consideration.
Operation Fields and Fair Expectations ¶
First the basic op fields outline. For reference: See a gloss of my broader fields of attention on the press page. See an overview of my ongoing projects on the support page. Common collaborations orbit one or many of the following domains:
- Tech Ops • Generative AI and LLM framing models. Or content/data processing/repos and essence/value extraction. Or any transformation and publishing pipelines. Or etc. In any case. See the vintage CMS Wares site for a general vibe.
- Content Ops • Whatever format and media on the spread of topics that I relate at depth with. Context agnostic — as long as it contributes to the cognitive development of the collective in some meaningful way. Browse this site for thematic specimens.
- Consultation Ops • Wherever I may have experience and insight, it was accumulated and distilled for the benefit of you all. Checking the facts? Churning the perspectives? Broadening the horizons? Anytime. Hand-holding? Usually no thanks.
Then the co-op expectations outline. As in, what you and I get out of it — and how it should be mutually fair and clear.
- Non-Profit • Where you do it without compensation. If you do it as a contribution for the collective, I typically match modes to build the shared commons. If you do it as a hobby or for your personal entertainment, I have limited time and attention.
- For-Profit • Where you do it to make money. Where my participation adds significant value to your product or service, it should be compensated in due proportion — with money or alternative value. I don't do charity work to line up your pockets.
- Hybrid • Where you have a good gig unfolding and there's also potential revenue involved. Or you're finding your bearings as you explore a professional field relevant to me. Then let's see what your fair realities are — and what role I may fit into.
Note that "private" and "proprietary" fall in the same basic slot with "commercial" and "for-profit". Again: "open-source" and "free access" align with "non-profit". Beyond that, my interest and investment are typically higher for works that benefit the many — whether or not they also benefit you or us in economic terms. We need to generate accessible real value into the world.
Outline of Coherent Interaction ¶
As we roll with our collaboration, there are some best practices and principles that keep our operations coherent and fulfilling. Please mind the following — they contribute to our streamlined interaction. Like to make the most of our time and attention.
As We Get Started — The Preliminaries ¶
- Reference Drop: Share any and all info, docs, and leads you have. Just send it all in. If it's neat, then neat — but if it's not, that's fine. I digest and extract all sorts to prime myself. If it's a large dump, please include a manifest for context.
- Orientation Convos: Whatever amount of well-paced conversations to wrap our heads around what you're doing and where I link in. Brainstorming and hashing out the details for the forms and fields of our immediate and potential collaboration.
- Into the Future: Reviewing the platforms/channels we use for efficient communication and hands-on operations. Sketching together a basic gameplan to coordinate and organize our efforts. Mapping practical requirements and deliverables.
As We Move Along — The Ongoing Process ¶
- Stay Tuned: Ensuring that we stay on the same page — please keep me posted, as I keep you posted, with any relevant developments. Follow up on questions and drops for your input — or confirm receipt and later follow-up intent (if any).
- Have Records: Maintain a well-organized track record of our engagements. You will need to revisit things and back-reference with integrity. Don't trust your memory. Conversations are not proper log and record. Organize your notes and assets.
- Let It Brew: I'd rather you get back to me with something solid and coherent a bit later, than toss in some hectic shuffle real soon. Organize your thoughts and assets, then drop in a "decent beta" — not the "draft-of-draft" brainstormer napkin.
General Considerations — Working Together ¶
- Speak and Ask: If anything ever seems off or is unclear. Then speak up or ask please. We evaluate the off-looking and determine the shared good sense. I will clarify the unclears in any format necessary. Clarity and cohererence are critical.
- Your Capacity: We all grow and learn together. None of us is perfect in anything. Please be realistic and transparent over where you're at and what you can handle. We need capacity and skill baselines that are rooted in actuality.
- Saturation Levels: I often have plenty to drop on the table. I try to curate the outflows to match your bandwidth. If you ever feel saturated to a point where it blocks your digestion, please speak out. Flex your capacity — know your limits.
Personal Considerations — Relating to Me ¶
- Quite Thorough: Because that concern won't go away by pretending it's not there. It's not about perfectionism. I say it because I see it and it seems consequential. If it's factored in, we can be proactive. If it's skipped, you will be reactive.
- Rather Annoying: Yes I am. Especially when I press you to be lucid and review your gaps. But I'm not here to annoy you or engage in any roles without mutual benefit. Let me know what works and what bugs — preference for straight-up dealings.
- Zero Games: Please never spin strategies to play me to your advantage. I share freely and openly as it is. I also sense the games a lightyear away. Simple transparent dealings. I deal in plain and raw actuality — allergic to tweaked holograms.
Inevitably — Junctions in Our Interaction ¶
- Decision Time: Which way should we go here? "Sounds like he likes to have the final word." But actually not. I just like to see the final facts laid out. Sound decisions and unforced consensus are yields from unbiased exposure to the complete story. Beyond that, whatever role and stakes I may have, that's the weight of my word. Where none — then you do as you see fit.
- Conflict Resolution: For example: 1. Conflicts of interest. 2. Conflicts of principles. 3. Conflicts of roles. 4. Persona(l) conflicts. Of these: 1. Stick to your agreements and fair share or get out. 2. Make your principles clear and stand by them. 3. I am ever the interim placeholder, not the thief of your shoes. The rest is details — resolved with open-minded mutual respect and patient dialogue. Oh and 4. Speak your mind and cross beyond. We are the ops. Not a sugarcube resolution nursery.
⁘ That's the basic lay of the land from my side. Please bear in mind that the practices and reminders outlined here are born of experience and repeated struggles with people who wing it over reactive iterations. I'm not one to ever dictate absolute terms of engagement — but I am one to take and make note, where ops will land in trouble when inevitable concerns are overlooked. We can be proactive from the outset — we don't have to learn the hard way from avoidable basic problems. Into the future then. 😎
