What of Intellect vs. Insight? or Knowledge & Wisdom? (WYS004)Play

Does intelligence matter? Does a high IQ mean life makes sense to you? Lots of very clever people driving their intellects in a tunnel โ€” all but lost to common sense. Then what does our knowledge amount to? How does it become living insight?

Our questions: 1. What is insight, what is wisdom, and how are they related? 2. Are insight and wisdom related to knowledge and intelligence? 3. Are insight and wisdom always consequential โ€” and how have they impacted your personal life?

A couple of questions once again. Today about intellect, intelligence. What even is intelligence? And does it really matter? Okay, we've got some measures and metrics โ€” IQ, etc. And there are indeed a bunch of people with a very high IQ, tested or otherwise, coming up with awfully strange ideas.

And I'm not saying that in way of someone who doesn't understand owing to an awfully low IQ. I don't think so. I do get what they're trying to say, but it just doesn't add up, it doesn't really make sense. It's a fractured picture, they're driving their intelligence in a tunnel.

So it seems clear that this intelligence, when it exists in a silo, isn't really a catch-all resolver of all things ever. And with that, we get to the more interesting question. What is insight and what is wisdom?

There can be artificial intelligence, but can there be artificial insight or artificial wisdom? Now, insight, at a quick thought, seems to be related to actually direct perception of things, and further perception into things, into a deeper layer of their being or nature. Not just the surface data that intelligence comprehends.

Wisdom then seems very related to insight โ€” but what is wisdom actually? We can say that wisdom does not arise from data, or even knowledge. Wisdom arises from insight. Wisdom, for me, has a more timeless ring, perhaps rooted in the insight of patterns in the cycles of things.

What was, will be, again, and again. This recognition and our adaptation to it. Wisdom in action. Can there be wisdom that does not result in action? Wisdom that isn't consequential. Now there's a question.

Then to pin these into more concrete questions. 1. What is insight, what is wisdom, and how do they relate to each other? 2. Are insight and wisdom related to knowledge and intelligence? If so, how? 3. And as the third, are insight and wisdom always consequential, and how have they impacted your personal life?
